The Cogeneration Channel interviewed DEFG managing partner Nat Treadway at the 2013 CHP Houston Conference. Nat indicated that the energy market in Texas allows competitive retail electric providers to directly sell power and solutions to commercial and industrial consumers. In terms of cogeneration (or combined heat and power), this allows the creation of customized solutions and services for the customer. CHP and cogeneration companies can integrate and optimize the customer’s needs with the power market economics. He also suggested that CHP and cogeneration solution providers must also pay attention to the education and awareness of small consumers. In order to support CHP and cogeneration, voters must appreciate the value of that form of energy efficiency. Nat Treadway dealt with these topics and others at the CHP Houston Conference.
